Welcome to the Michigan Plan and Act for Transgender Health Study (PATH)
Michigan PATH is a study based out of the University of Michigan School of Public Health that aims to survey 300 transgender, nonbinary, gender diverse, or non-cisgender identifying Michiganders on how local and federal policies may impact their health and wellbeing. (IRB approved HUM#00274523)
What does participating look like?
Step 1 : Interest Form
First, fill out an online contact form with your name, phone number, and email address to say you’re interested in joining the study.
Step 2 : Quick Call
Next, a study staff member will reach out to give you a call over the phone or on Zoom to see if the study is right for you. They will ask some basic questions about you like your age, your gender, and where you live.
Step 3 : Online Survey
If you are good fit, you will be sent an online survey to complete that should take around 45 minutes.
Step 4: Appreciation
After checking for completion, you will be emailed a $40 Amazon gift card as a token of appreciation for your time.

TRICON Statement

This research study is focused on the impact of local and federal policies on the health and wellbeing of transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse adults in Michigan. We plan to use the study results to advocate for policies and inform programs and services that will support the safety and wellbeing of trans communities.

Participants include people who identify as transgender, nonbinary, gender diverse, or another non-cisgender identity; age 18+ years old; live in Michigan; English speaking.

The study will seek to include participants who are diverse in terms of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, and region of Michigan. At this time, we are only enrolling English speaking individuals.

The principal investigators are Kristi Gamarel and Sari Reisner from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Trans researchers are included throughout the research team, including leadership.

The study is funded by University of Michigan Institute for Research on Women and Gender and the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation.

The survey was designed by and with trans people, and piloted with community members to ensure language is affirming and culturally tailored.
